The right side of the barrel is marked “Boy Scouts of America”. The top pf the barrel is marked with Winchester WP proofs. The bottom of the receiver is marked “BSA / 12865”. The bottom tang is marked “-Mfd. by U.S. Repeating Arms Co.- / -Winchester TM’s licensed from- / -Olin Corporation-“. The right side of the buttstock as an inlaid Boy Scouts Medallion. The sides of the receiver are engraved.
Barrel Length: 20″
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a hooded beaded blade dovetailed to a serrated ramped base, fixed to the barrel. The rear sight is a u-notch elevator sight dovetailed to the barrel. The top of the receiver is scope grooved.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece checkered select walnut with banded forend, straight grip, straight comb, and steel buttplate. The checkering is sharp with faint peak wear. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 13 1/8″ from the front of the trigger to the rear of the buttplate. Overall, the stocks are in about Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright. The rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the barrel. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 10/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish is strong and complete throughout. The screw heads are sharp, and the pins are unmarred. The markings are clear and legible. Overall, this rifle is in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The hammer has a half cock safety position. The trigger pull is crisp. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: The Winchester Model 9422, introduced in 1972, quickly established itself as one of the finest modern rimfire lever actions ever produced, marrying traditional styling with contemporary precision from the New Haven factory. This 9422 XTR Boy Scouts of America 75th Anniversary Commemorative was manufactured in 1985 to honor the BSA’s 1910 to 1985 milestone, and notably, production was limited to just 15,000 rifles that year. The engraved receiver, coin finished surfaces, and inlaid Boy Scouts medallion in the right side of the buttstock distinguish it from standard production models, while the 20 inch barrel, hooded beaded front sight, and grooved receiver retain the classic field-ready configuration that defines the 9422 platform.
Chambered for .22 Short, Long, and Long Rifle, a cartridge lineage dating back to the mid-1800s and long regarded as America’s foundational training and small game round, this rifle offers versatility alongside commemorative appeal. The bore is bright with sharp rifling, rating 10 out of 10, and the rifle retains approximately 99 percent of its original metal finish with clear markings and sharp screws throughout. The action functions correctly with a crisp trigger and proper half cock safety position, and the checkered walnut stocks remain in Excellent condition with strong, well-defined checkering. With its limited 15,000 rifle production run and excellent preservation, this example represents a scarce and attractive New Haven era Winchester rimfire.
