Our Assessment:
The Winchester Model 70 Featherweight is one of the most beloved sporting rifles of the 20th century, offering the legendary controlled round feed action in a trim, packable package ideal for hunters. This rifle was manufactured in 1955, making it a Pre-’64 model, highly sought after by collectors and field users alike for its quality machining and superb reliability. Chambered in .30-06 Springfield, it’s a versatile choice for North American big game and beyond.
The Featherweight variant shaves off excess weight without sacrificing accuracy, and its compact 22” barrel is well-suited to field use. The checkered walnut stock and slim profile make for a classic hunting rifle aesthetic that balances beautifully in the hand. This example shows honest field wear, but retains a strong finish and sharp rifling, paired with a Redfield scope that’s period-appropriate and still serviceable.
For collectors, shooters, and hunters looking to add a Pre-’64 Featherweight to their battery—or complete a Winchester 70 lineup—this is a handsome, functional, and historically important rifle. Don’t miss your chance to own a piece of Winchester’s legacy. So bid high and bid firm. I encourage you to take a look at the condition in our high-quality photos. Good luck on your bid. -K.F.
