Our Assessment: The Weatherby Mark V Deluxe represents the height of Roy Weatherby’s magnum-era vision, blending striking aesthetics with a powerful, high-velocity cartridge that helped define postwar American big-game hunting. Produced during the early 1970s and manufactured in Japan to Weatherby’s specifications, the Mark V is distinguished by its strong multi-lug bolt, smooth cycling action, and signature high-gloss Monte Carlo stock. Chambered in .300 Weatherby Magnum, the rifle reflects a period when flat trajectory and long-range performance were paramount, and the Mark V became synonymous with premium craftsmanship and uncompromising power.
This example presents in excellent condition, retaining nearly all of its original finish with a bright, sharp bore and clean, legible markings throughout. The Deluxe walnut stock remains well preserved with only minor handling marks, and the action operates smoothly. The included Weatherby variable scope complements the rifle’s intended purpose, and the addition of a hard case and period-correct ammunition adds meaningful completeness to the package. Altogether, this Mark V Deluxe stands as a well-kept and representative example of Weatherby’s classic magnum rifle lineage. Please see our high resolution photos and good luck on your bid! – L.S.
