Markings: The left side of the receiver is marked “MARK V / U.S. PATENT NO.3.013.355”, “Weatherby / SOUTH GATE CALIF. MADE IN JAPAN”.  The right side of the receiver is marked “H119656”.  The left side of the barrel is marked “MADE IN W. GERMANY”    The top of the barrel is marked “J.P. SAUER & SOHN SEGR 75 IN SUHL WET-NR 7225 / 257 WBY” and with the original SN  “P17828” and “66” year of manufacture.  “The buttpad is marked “Weatherby”.

Sights / Optics: There is no provision for iron sights.  The top of the receiver is mounted with a one-piece Vintage Redfield scope base with integrated scope rings.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a one-piece skip-line checkered, high-gloss Deluxe wood Monte Carlo stock with a very attractive lighter tone than most of Weatherby’s walnut stocks. The stock could possibly be maple wood with a rosewood-capped pistol grip and rosewood tipped forearm, fluted raised comb with cheekpiece, vented buttpad, and two sling swivel studs. The LOP measures approximately 13 1/4” from the front of the trigger to the back of the rubber buttpad. There are no chips or cracks in the wood. The walnut stock is in Excellent condition with some minor scuff marks and very limited signs of wear from use in the field.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. There is some minor fouling towards the muzzle.  In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9/10. 

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 95% of its metal finish. There are minimal signs of storage wear and very limited operational use.  The action is smooth, the screwheads are sharp and all the markings are clear. Overall this rifle is in about Excellent condition.     

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
