Our Assessment: This T-series Browning Hi-Power is a crisp, mid-century articulation of a design that shaped 20th-century handgunning. Built at FN Herstal and imported under the Browning name in the 1960s, it carries the matched serials and Belgian proof marks that tie it directly to factory production and period contract practice. The 4.7-inch barrel, fixed half-moon front and dovetailed U-notch rear, and polished-blue surfaces preserve the classic silhouette and engineering intent of the Hi-Power lineage—details that speak plainly of manufacture, inspection, and service life during a decade when the pistol was widely trusted by militaries and constabularies around the globe. Chambered in 9mm Luger, the cartridge that established itself as the modern standard early in the century, this pistol pairs that enduring chambering with traditional single-action geometry to produce a precise, familiar shooting platform. Cosmetically the pistol presents exceptionally well: nearly all of the original polished blue finish remains, the checkered walnut panels are sharp and intact, and the bore is described as very bright with sharp rifling—an uncommon degree of preservation for a service-era piece. The included twin 13-round magazines, original Browning hard case, and paperwork complete a compelling factory set that reinforces provenance and preservation.

Together, the matched serials, clear Belgian proofs, and high state of preservation make this T-series Hi-Power more than an object of utility; it is a tangible link to FN’s postwar production and to the steady, practical evolution of the service pistol. Handling it evokes the quiet, disciplined practicality of mid-20th-century service—engineered for repeatable performance and finished for durability—while its exceptional bore and near-factory presentation affirm its value to a discerning catalog. -R.E.
