Our Assessment: The Ruger M77 is a classic American bolt-action platform and this 1973 example paired with a Hart Rifle Barrels 24” barrel and chambered in .308 Norma Mag is a purpose-built combination for serious long-range and big-game work. The synthetic stock with textured white-splatter finish gives the rifle modern ergonomics and durable handling characteristics, while the receiver milled for scope rings and the mounted Weaver Grand Slam 3–10×40 complement the cartridge’s extended capability — a clear bridge between Ruger’s tried-and-true action and a precision-oriented barrel setup.

Cosmetically and mechanically this M77 is in excellent order: roughly 99% of the Cerakote finish remains, the bore is bright with sharp rifling (10/10), hardware is clean and unmarred, and the bolt cycles smoothly with secure lockup and reliable magazine function. For buyers seeking a capable shooter with magnum performance and modern handling, this rifle delivers both precision potential and collector appeal as a vintage 1973 Ruger.
