Action Type: Single Action Semi-Automatic Pistol with Removable Magazine.
Markings: The left side of the frame is marked with the serial number and “2011”. The dust cover of the frame is marked “STI INTERNATIONAL / GEORGETOWN, TX USA” on the bottom. The top of the chamber is marked “40 S&W”. The left side of the slide is marked “EDGE”. The right side of the slide is marked with the “STI” Texas logo. The bottom of the magazine well is marked “STI”.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade with a green fiber-optic insert and is dovetailed into the slide. The rear sight is a fully adjustable square notch serrated STI target sight dovetailed into the slide.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grip is double diamond checkered black composite with STI logos in the centers. The grip has some light wear, mainly little marks to the diamonds and the checkering is mainly sharp with a few scattered little nicks. The grips rate in about Fine Plus condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion.
Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 95% of its metal finish. The mounting screw on the right side of the trigger guard is missing. There is thinning and finish loss on the edges, most noticeable at the front. There are a few scattered light marks from handling and use. There are some nicks and dings on the magwell. There are a few little marks around the slide stop pin on the right side of the frame. There are some scattered spots of dark discoloration on the stainless components. The pistol displays handling and operational wear. The grip screws are sharp and the markings are clear. Overall, this pistol rates in about Fine condition.
Mechanics: The mounting screw on the right side of the trigger guard is missing. This pistol has an extended ambidextrous thumb safety, an adjustable trigger, crisp trigger, short reset, strong mainspring, skeletonized hammer & trigger, extended magazine well, and the grip safety has a rise to index one’s palm correctly each time. The slide and frame have superb mating and is very smooth. The action works correctly. We did not fire this pistol. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included is a serial matching case, an 18-round magazine, a 10-round magazine, and paperwork including the manual. Please note, the 18-round magazine will not be included if prohibited by your local laws.
Our Assessment: The 1911 and 1911-A1 pistols served the military of the United States from 1911 to 1985, through two World Wars and the Korean and Vietnam wars. They gained a reputation as a reliable handgun with plenty of stopping power, and are held in high regard by those who have used them. The only drawback is the standard 7 or 8 round magazines, compared to some modern pistols that can hold over two times that amount. This is NOT your grandpa’s 1911 though, this is your new 2011 from STI. With similar controls, even your Grandpa could pick this up and safely run the next 3 Gun or USPSA Competition with limited training (of course you should never shoot a gun until you are fluent with the safe handling). With a slightly wider, polymer frame you can now cram an appropriate 18 Rounds of .40 S&W, be it for your next USPSA match or home defense. The lines are beautiful along with the fit and finish. This is an earlier production model which many competitors prefer over the newer models now sold under the name “Staccato”. These pistols are the some of the best, race-ready out of the box.
