Sights / Optics: The rear sight is a serrated ramped blade fixed to the slide. The rear sight is a rectangular notch sight pinned to the slide, adjustable for elevation and windage.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two piece serrated black synthetic panels. The grips show no significant wear or damage. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in about Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is semi-bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore but there is some light stubborn fouling. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 9/10.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 98% of its metal finish. There are some scattered superficial scratches and handling marks throughout. The action has light wear. The screw heads are sharp to lightly used. The markings are clear. Overall, this pistol is in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This IAI Automag III chambered in .30 Carbine is a bold and unconventional semi-automatic pistol from Irwindale Arms Incorporated (formerly AMT). Developed during the 1990s, the Automag III was AMT/IWI’s effort to harness a true rifle cartridge in a stainless steel, single-action semi-auto platform, continuing the company’s tradition of ambitious engineering. The .30 Carbine chambering places this model in a very small class of pistols designed to deliver high velocity and flat trajectory performance more commonly associated with carbines than handguns. The 6 5/8 inch barrel provides a long sight radius and allows the .30 Carbine cartridge to realize a moderate amount of its ballistic potential. The bore is semi-bright with sharp rifling and no erosion, rating 9 out of 10 with only light stubborn fouling noted. The fixed front blade and adjustable rear sight offer a practical sighting system suited to the cartridge’s speed and recoil characteristics. The single-action operating system functions correctly, and the included eight-round magazine remains in Excellent condition, reinforcing the pistol’s solid mechanical presentation.
Overall condition is excellent, with approximately 98 percent of the original stainless finish retained. Scattered light scratches and handling marks are present, along with mild action wear, all consistent with limited use rather than abuse. The synthetic grip panels are clean and undamaged, showing no chips or cracks and presenting in Excellent condition. Markings are clear, screw heads show only light use, and the pistol retains a strong, purposeful appearance. Taken as a whole, this Automag III stands as a distinctive and increasingly collectible AMT pistol, offering uncommon chambering, strong mechanical integrity, and a clear snapshot of 1990s American handgun experimentation. -R.E.
