Safety: “SA” – A Springfield part not listed in our reference material (page 104). It is an M14 part also used as a Garand replacement part.
Follower:”11”- Used by Springfield & Winchester (page 83).
Receiver Leg: “B 2 3 A diamond” and “D28291-32” – Correct for the Springfield serial number (page 29).
Op Rod: “7780722 SA” – A Springfield National Match part (page 71).
Bolt: “D28287-12SA / S-04 diamond”- A Springfield part (page 52).
Barrel: unmarked on the side & top – This is NOT an M1D barrel.
The stock, sights and scope assembly are described below.
Barrel Length: Approximately 24 Inches
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade set between two protective wings. The rear sight is a fully adjustable aperture set between protective wings. The windage knob is marked “LEFT arrow” twice and “WRIGHT”. The elevation knob is marked from “2-12” in increments of two and “NIC”.
The Danish M84 scope attaches to the rifle with a two piece hinged mount. The mount has an included screw with an oversized head that mates with the base installed on the barrel. The scope is a 2.2 power that uses a thin post reticle. The scope has a sliding sunshade on the front of the tube and a rubber eyepiece on the rear. It has two adjustment knobs under metal flip caps that turn. The top knob is marked “0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9”. The side knob is marked “20 15 10 5 R 0 L 5 10 15 20”. The scope plate is marked “TELESCOPE / M84 / SERIAL NO. 0078”. The scope tube is also has a Danish marking “crown / FKF / nr3500898”. The sun shade shows scrapes. The rubber eye piece shows scrapes and scuffs. The tube shows scrapes, scratches, and some discoloration. The view appears clear. Overall the scope assembly is in about Very Good Plus to Fine condition.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The three piece hardwood stock has a pistol grip, metal nose caps, two sling loops, stacking loop and a metal buttplate with a hinged door for storage. The refinished buttplate has small scratches and surface erosion showing through the finish. It also shows scrapes & some discoloration. The wood shows several scrapes and scratches. A leather cheek piece is installed. The LOP measures 13 ? inches from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stock rates in about Very Good Plus overall condition.

Bore Condition: The lands are bright and the grooves are semi bright. The grooves near the muzzle are light grey. The rifling is deep. There is fouling in the grooves. There is some frosting in the grooves near the muzzle. The fouling should clean up some. The bore shows an M.E. of 1.5. The throat shows a T.E. of 2.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 95% of its metal finish. The metal shows scuffs & light scrapes. The front of the barrel shows some thinning from the flash hider being mounted. The gas tube assembly shows scrapes & scratches. The barrel mounted scope base shows thinning from mounting the scope. The right side of the receiver shows thinning from cycling. The markings are deep. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good Plus condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: The rifle comes with a Danish M84 scope assembly; see above. The rifle also comes with an M2 Flash Hider, leather sling, and a leather cheek piece. The M2 Flash Hider is marked “H in a diamond / HIDER, FLASH, M2”. It shows several scuffs and light scrapes. It is in about Very Good Plus condition. The sling is marked “MRT”. It shows scrapes, compression marks and light discoloration. It is in about Very Good Plus condition. The leather cheek piece i smarked “MRT / 6-52”. It is secured by leather lacing. It shows discoloration, scrapes, and compression marks. It is in about Very Good Plus condition.
Our Assessment: This is an assembled M1D Garand Sniper. It was not converted by the U.S. Military. It has a strong bore but the barrel is not an M1D barrel. The barrel is unmarked. The rifle comes with a Danish marked M84 scope, M2 Flash Hider, sling and cheek piece. The scope is in nice shape so the rifle should do well out at the range. Good luck.
