The rear sight has been removed and a scope mount with its own aperture rear sight installed carrying a Tasco World Class DWC 4-16X50 scope with a simple duplex reticle, objective mounted parallax and scope covers. The sight picture is clear and the light transmission is good. The covered turrets adjust with positive clicks. Overall the scope is in Very Good condition.

Stock Configuration & Condition:  The wood stock has a traditional Semi-pistol grip, metal nose caps, two sling loops, stacking ring, and a checkered metal butt plate with storage compartment.  The LOP measures 13” inches from the front of the trigger to the back of the butt plate. This new production stock shows very little wear. There is a notable compression/scratch on the right flank of the stock just below the charging handle. There are no chips or cracks. The butt plate upper screw is incorrect for the stock. The butt plate has been refinished and has a strong door spring that functions correctly. There is a small rub mark just behind the rear sling ring on the left side. Overall the stock set is in Very Good+-Excellent condition.

Type of Finish: Parkerized

Finish Originality: Refinished

Bore Condition: This is a two groove barrel. The bore is very bright and the rifling is well defined. There is no visible pitting or erosion preset. Our muzzle gauge barely sat into the bore 0. The throat erosion of 1. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 10/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. The friction surfaces of the bolt and receiver show very minor rub wear. The left side of the exposed portion of the barrel has a small rub mark. The markings are clear and the screw heads are sharp. Overall this rifle is in Excellent+ condition.

Mechanics:  The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle includes a green canvas sling, leather cheek pad, bikini scope caps, and the rear sight as mentioned above.

Our Assessment: The M1 Garand is one of the most significant U.S. military rifles ever produced, and Springfield Armory rifles from August 1943 fall squarely into the heart of World War II production. This example has been re-barreled with a Springfield-marked two-groove replacement barrel dated November 1953, a configuration commonly seen on postwar arsenal-maintained rifles. Two-groove barrels from this period are well regarded for their durability and accuracy, particularly with modern ammunition, and this barrel rates an exceptional 10/10, presenting in essentially like new condition with a bright, sharp bore.

This rifle has been refinished and fitted with a new production stock, giving it a clean, uniform appearance suited to a shooter-focused build rather than a strict collector piece. A scope mount has been installed into the rear sight block and is currently carrying a Tasco 4-16X scope, transforming the Garand into a practical, optics-ready range rifle. A leather cheek pad has been added to properly align the shooter’s eye with the optic, improving comfort and consistency. Overall, this M1 Garand blends WWII-era heritage with thoughtful modern upgrades, making it a shooter with exceptional barrel life remaining.
