The stock and sights are described below.

Barrel Length: Approximately 24 Inches

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade set between two protective wings. The rear sight is a fully adjustable aperture sight set between two protective wings. The windage knob is marked “LEFT arrow” twice and “DRC”. The elevation knob is marked from “2-12” in increments of two and “WCE” on the edge.

Stock Configuration & Condition:  The face of the grip is marked with a “boxed P” proof.
The hardwood stock has a pistol grip, metal nose caps, a stacking loop, two sling loops and a metal buttplate with hinged door for storage in the butt. The buttplate shows light scrapes & light thinning. The wood shows scrapes, scratches, and compression marks. The most prominent marks are on the main body of the stock, just behind the lower band. Some of the marks have damaged small portions of the surface wood. These marks have been oiled over. The LOP measures 13 inches from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stock rates in about Very Good Plus overall condition.

Type of Finish: Parkerized

Finish Originality: Original to Rebuild

Bore Condition: The lands are bright, the grooves are semi bright, and the rifling is deep. There is fouling in the grooves approaching the muzzle. It should clean up some. There is no erosion. The bore shows an M.E. of 0.3. The throat shows a T.E. of 2.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 95% of its metal finish. Surface erosion shows through the new finish on the receiver legs. The metal shows scuffs, scrapes, small scratches, and light thinning on the leading edges of the metal. The receiver legs show light thinning. The right side of the receiver and front of the bolt show light thinning consistent with cycling the action. The markings are well defined. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good Plus to Fine condition as refinished.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: The rifle comes with a green canvas sling. It shows light scrapes & oxidation on the metal. Overall it is in about Very Good Plus to Fine condition.

Our Assessment: This Springfield Armory M1 Garand was made back in 1943. The rifle has since been rebuilt using mostly Springfield parts. The metal was refinished during the rebuild so the rifle looks great for its age. The wood is in nice shape and the bore is still strong & bright. This M1 Garand will add to your collection and should do well out at the range.
