The finish has some very minor handling wear scattered throughout that in this writer’s opinion can be mostly cleaned off. The markings are clear and the screwheads are sharp. The rear sight panel and the clip latch both have small spots of discoloration. Overall the rifle is in Excellent to Like New condition.

Our Assessment: This Springfield Armory M1 Garand features a receiver manufactured between 1952 and 1954, placing it firmly in late U.S. service production. The rifle was professionally converted to .308 Winchester by the Civilian Marksmanship Program, a popular and practical configuration that offers excellent accuracy, reduced recoil, and wide ammunition availability while retaining the original Garand operating system and handling characteristics.
The conversion includes a 2023-dated Criterion Barrel, known for outstanding consistency and precision, and the rifle was sold as an Expert Grade example. It is fitted with a new CMP production stock set installed in 2023, giving the rifle a near-new mechanical and cosmetic presentation. Overall, this is one of the closest ways to own a “like-new” Garand with modern shootability, combining late-production Springfield history with current-generation CMP workmanship.
