Markings: The top of the receiver is marked “U.S. / SPRINGFIELD / ARMORY / M1922 MII / CAL. .22” with the serial number “10637” below. The barrel is marked “S A / flaming bomb / 8-42”, indicating manufacture by Springfield Armory in August 1942. The left side of the barrel is marked “LONG RIFLE / CARTRIDGE ONLY.”

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade housed in a protective hood. The rear sight is an adjustable aperture sight marked with range graduations.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The rifle has an after market walnut stock with a straight grip and a textured steel buttplate. The LOP measures approximately 13.25” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stock rates in about Excellent overall condition.

Magazine Quantity & Condition: Detachable magazine in Very Good condition.

Type of Finish: Parkerized

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright, the rifling is sharp. There is no visible erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 9/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 85% of its original Parkerized finish. The balance of the finish shows handling wear, primarily on the bolt handle, trigger guard, and edges of the receiver. There are scattered small scratches, thinning, and some patina on the barrel and receiver. The screw heads are lightly tooled with serviceable slots. The markings are clear and sharp. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good to Fine condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
