Our Assessment: This DWM-built Argentine Mauser Model 1909 presents as an attractive, well-preserved sporterized example with solid Mauser provenance. Receiver and barrel stamps are clear and correct for the pattern, the one-piece stock with semi-pistol grip and cheek rest is in excellent condition with sharp checkering and no chips or cracks, and the 22.75″ barrel and sights present cleanly. Cosmetically the rifle shows light thinning and scattered scratches consistent with an arsenal-refurbished finish (˜98% finish retained), the magwell cover has a pleasant patina, and the bore is bright with sharp rifling (9/10) — all signs of a carefully maintained piece. This rifle will serve very well as a handsome, accurate shooter or as a display piece for anyone who appreciates early 20th-century Mauser engineering.
