Our Assessment: The Smith & Wesson SW1911 chambered in .460 Rowland is a powerful, custom-configured semi-automatic pistol built on the classic 5? 1911 platform and modified to handle the high-pressure .460 Rowland cartridge. Originally designed in .45 ACP, this SW1911 has been upgraded to accommodate the .460 Rowland’s magnum-level ballistics. The pistol has a Crimson Trace laser integral to the grips that is activated upon gripping the pistol. The pistol features a robust stainless steel frame and slide, with a compensator to help manage the sharp recoil and muzzle rise associated with the high-velocity cartridge. The compensator also adds a bit of length to the overall profile, aiding in control and follow-up shots. Standard SW1911 features like front and rear cocking serrations, an extended beavertail grip safety, and the skeletonized trigger and hammer ensure both shooter comfort and control. The SW1911 in .460 Rowland with a compensator is a unique blend of traditional 1911 ergonomics and modern magnum-class performance.
