Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “SMITH & WESSON”. The right side of the barrel is marked “44 MAGNUM”. The crane cut is marked with the serial number and model number “N851558 / MOD-629”. The crane and sides of the grip frame are marked with inspection marks. The ejector rod recess of the underlug is marked “S”. The sideplate has the S&W monogram logo. The right side of the frame is marked with the four-line marcas registradas. The rear face of the cylinder is marked “V”. The butt of the grip frame is marked with the serial number “N851558”.

Barrel Length: 8 3/8” Pinned, with shrouded ejector rod and solid, serrated rib.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a ramp blade with an orange insert, integral to a serrated elevated base that is integral to the rib, which is serrated for glare reduction. The rear sight is an S&W micrometer click, flat top, square notched and white-outlined leaf that is adjustable for windage and elevation.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are checkered Goncalo Alves target stocks with a football cut and S&W logo medallions. The grips have light handling wear with a few spots of finish loss, the most noticeable are on the right panel at the bottom edge and in front of the top front corner of the checkering. The checkering is sharp. There are no chips or cracks. The stocks are in Fine Plus to Excellent overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 97% of its metal finish. There are some swirl marks and light streaks from use and storage. There is a complete turn line on the cylinder. There are a couple of light scuffs, most noticeable at the muzzle. There are a couple shallow hairline scratches, most noticeable on the cylinder and bottom of the barrel. There is light operational wear on the hammer and trigger. The screw heads are sharp to lightly used. The markings are crisp. Overall, this handgun rates in about Fine-Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The lockup produces minimal side to side movement. The double action is smooth and the single action is crisp. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
