Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “.44 MAGNUM”. The right side of the barrel is marked “SMITH & WESSON”. The yoke cut is marked with the serial and model numbers. The right side of the frame is marked with the four line Marcas Registradas address, the left side has S&W’s monogram logo. The butt is marked with the serial number. The crane and sides of the grip frame have inspection marks.
Barrel Length: 3″
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a serrated ramp blade with an orange insert, pinned to a ramp base which is integral to the solid, wide rib, which is serrated for glare reduction. The rear sight is a square notched, white outlined leaf in a S&W micrometer click base that is adjustable for windage and elevation. The top strap is drilled and tapped under the rear sight for mounting optics (no optic or mount included).
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grip is a one-piece checkered wood with finger grooves mounted to a Hogue bracket on the butt of the frame. The grip leaves the top 2/3 of the smooth backstrap exposed. The grip shows no notable wear or damage, only light handling marks. There are no chips or cracks. The checkering is sharp. Overall, the grip is in about Excellent condition as not original to the gun.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 97% of its metal finish. There are a few scattered light nicks, scratches and scuffs. The cylinder has a thin turn-line. The hammer and trigger have light operational wear. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this revolver is in about Fine-plus condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The double action trigger is smooth and the single action is crisp. The cylinder lockup has almost no play on all chambers. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: Popularized by Dirty Harry movies, the N-frame long barrel S&W revolvers had already been on the shelf in America for a few decades; after the movie, the Model 29 was revered by target shooters and law enforcement alike. This is an all stainless steel version with a 3″ barrel and a round-butt equipped with a finger-grooved checkered wood grip, which should make it more comfortable for many hands. Stainless revolvers are easier to maintain than blue or nickel and the 6″ barreled stainless steel N-frame is going to make for a handy revolver to carry when hunting, fishing or even for home defense.
