Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “SMITH & WESSON”. The butt is marked “S218509” and the underside of the ejector star is marked “218509”. The sideplate is marked with the S&W logo. The right side of the frame is marked with the four line Marcas Registradas address. The right side of the barrel is marked “S.&W. 357 MAGNUM”. The crane, crane cut, and sides of the grip frame have inspection marks. The crane cut is marked with the serial and model numbers. The interior of the right panel is stamped “218509”.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a Patridge blade set on a ramped base on the barrel rib. The rear sight is an S&W micrometer click square notch adjustable for windage and elevation. The barrel rib, ramp, rear sight tang, and the top strap are finely checkered to reduce glare.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece checkered wood magna stocks with S&W medallions at their tops and smooth diamonds around the screws. There is a little chip out of the bottom edge of the right panel towards the front. There are a few little scuffs and dings. The checkering is mainly strong with light rub wear. The grips rate in about Very Good Plus condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 93% of its metal finish. There is some finish loss at the muzzle. The left side of the frame has some little pinpricks of finish loss under the grip panel. There are some scattered scuffs and little marks into the finish, most noticeable on the cylinder. There are some spots of discoloration from previous oxidation, most noticeable on the left recoil shield, sideplate, and cylinder. There is some finish loss on the edges of the trigger guard and cylinder. There are some little scratches on the butt of the grip frame and trigger guard. The edges have thinning. The screw heads are lightly tool marked with strong slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this revolver is in about Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The cylinder lockup produces light side-to-side play on each chamber with the trigger depressed. The double action trigger is smooth, the single action crisp. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
