Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 97% of its metal finish. The cylinder has a thin, light turn-line, not through the finish. The 0.500″ target hammer and trigger have minor operational wear in their otherwise strong case-coloring. The barrel and frame have a few scattered minor marks including some concealed by the grips, not through the finish. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this revolver is in about Fine-Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The single action trigger is crisp, the double action smooth. We did not fire this handgun. The cylinder locks up with almost no play on each chamber. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This revolver comes in a wood Smith & Wesson presentation case with blue-flock lined inrerior, fitted tray, cleaning accessories including rod, brush, mop and grooved handle screwdriver, and under the tray is an assortment of factory paperwork including manual. Most of the cleaning accessories are still sealed in their packaging, the bore mop is separate, but shows little to no sign of use. The presentation case has scattered light storage wear on the exterior, the interior has minor wear from the contents, in about Very Good-Fine condition.
Our Assessment: The .357 Magnum was the king of handgun cartridges for decades and Smith & Wesson made some of the best. This example comes to us from the late ’70s with its finely checkered topstrap and rib, pinned barrel and recessed chambers. They literally do not make them like this anymore. This revolver has an 6″ barrel with adjustable sights along with a beautiful nickel finish. It is in about Fine-Excellent condition with about 97% of its nickel finish, a fantastic bore and strong mechanics. The revolver comes with a Smith & Wesson presentation case, cleaning accessories and factory paperwork including manual. This is a great opportunity for an investment – shooter – collector. Please see our photos and good luck!
