There are some scattered compressions plus a few little dings into the finish, some of the most noticeable are on the back of the right panel towards the bottom. There are a few light small scratches on the bottom faces. The checkering is strong. There are no chips. There is a small gap between the grip frame and the left panel at the bottom front corner. The grips rate in about Fine condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 97% of its metal finish. There is thinning on some of the edges, most noticeable on the muzzle and on the bottom of the frame at the front. There are a few tiny marks and light scuffs on the cylinder. There are a few scattered light marks from use and handling. There is standard operational wear and a turn line through the finish on the cylinder. The screw heads are lightly tool marked with strong slots. The markings are clear except for the model number. Overall, this revolver is in about Fine-Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The cylinder lockup produces hardly any side-to-side play on each chamber with the trigger depressed. The double-action trigger is smooth, the single action crisp. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: None.

Our Assessment: The .357 Magnum was the king of handgun cartridges for decades and Smith & Wesson made some of the best. This example comes to us from the ’60s with its finely checkered topstrap and rib, pinned barrel, and recessed chambers. They literally do not make them like this anymore. This revolver has a blued finish, 3 1/2″ barrel, and nice checkered walnut magna stocks. It is in about Fine-Excellent condition with about 97% of its original blue finish and a fantastic bore. The gun is in excellent mechanical shape, it has a nice lockup and nice trigger pulls, this will be a great addition to a Smith collection and certainly be a nice shooter for fun at the range. Please see our photos and good luck!
