Our Assessment: Originally a boutique cartridge promoted by the likes of Jeff Cooper, 10mm took some time to gain traction in the shooting community, with the first big commercial boost coming from the release of Colt’s Delta Elite in 1987. Other manufacturers soon followed suit and began producing their own pistols in this new, powerful automatic cartridge including Smith & Wesson. The model 1076 was released in 1990 and was submitted for the FBI contract when they were seeking 10mm duty pistols. This example is in Excellent condition and looks like it has seen gentle use over its lifetime. If you like something that is a little less common than .45 or 9mm, like a little more power in your pistols, or just know that 10mm is best mm, this is a pistol to bid one…especially since only 13,805 were made. Please see our pictures and good luck.
