Our Assessment: Popularized by Dirty Harry movies, the N-frame long barrel S&W revolvers had already been on the shelf in America for a few decades; after the movie, the Model 29 was revered by target shooters and law enforcement alike. The 629 is the stainless steel version and has been made in a variety of configurations since 1979 filling just about any role that could be asked of a .44 Magnum revolver. This is a Model 629 Classic DX, or Classic Deluxe that was made from 1991-2000. It is a Deluxe version of the Classic Model and comes with combat grips, additional front sight blades, and is drilled and tapped under the rear sight. This one has been well maintained and looks like it sat in its box for almost 30 years. This would be a great revolver for target shooting or handgun hunting. Of course, with its original box and high condition, it should also pique the interest of Smith & Wesson collectors. Whatever your reason for buying this revolver, these don’t come around every day. Please see our photos and good luck!
