Our Assessment:
The Smith & Wesson Performance Center 460 is a compact powerhouse built on the massive X-frame platform, engineered to chamber the .460 S&W Magnum—one of the most powerful handgun cartridges ever created. Introduced in 2005, the .460 round was designed to deliver rifle-like performance from a revolver platform, with blistering velocities and exceptional energy transfer.
This 3.5-inch version, while shorter than the hunting-length variants, offers impressive versatility as both a defensive and field sidearm. Its solid stainless steel construction, unfluted cylinder, and Performance Center tuning provide exceptional strength and precision. The HiViz fiber-optic front sight and fully adjustable rear sight deliver a bright and precise sight picture, while the Hogue Monogrip ensures recoil control and comfort.
This revolver is a prime example of modern Smith & Wesson craftsmanship—brute strength refined by Performance Center precision and designed for those who appreciate engineering excellence in a truly formidable package.
