Our Assessment:
Introduced in 2003, the Smith & Wesson Model 500 was designed around the company’s massive X-Frame to chamber the then-new .500 S&W Magnum cartridge—one of the most powerful handgun rounds ever developed. Intended for big-game hunting and defense against dangerous animals, the revolver’s stainless steel construction and efficient compensator tame an otherwise punishing level of recoil. The 4-inch configuration seen here balances portability and control, making it one of the most sought-after variations. This example remains in exceptional condition with both factory compensators present, representing an ideal addition for collectors of modern S&W revolvers or enthusiasts of high-powered handguns.
