Our Assessment:
The Smith & Wesson Model 27 is the direct descendant of the original Registered Magnum of 1935, the revolver that started the .357 Magnum legend. This particular example, a Model 27-2 produced in 1977, comes with the rare and highly desirable 3 1/2″ pinned barrel, the configuration long favored by FBI agents and lawmen who wanted both power and portability.

The high-polish blue finish, the deluxe presentation target grips, and the inclusion of both target hammer and target trigger set this revolver apart as one of the finest double-action wheelguns ever produced. The fact that this piece is factory-fired only and still rests in its original presentation case with tools elevates it to an exceptional collector’s grade example.
