Our Assessment:
The Smith & Wesson Model 25 has always been one of the great big-bore N-frames, bringing the classic .45 Colt cartridge into a revolver that combines strength, smooth action, and accuracy. The 25-13 “Mountain Gun” variant, like the one offered here, was designed with packability in mind — a lighter, tapered 4” barrel with the “Mountain Gun” rollmark, balancing the revolver for all-day carry without sacrificing durability or shootability.
This example, manufactured in 2004, features a clean bore, strong mechanics, and retains the majority of its original blued finish. The aftermarket Hogue-style hardwood grips add a striking touch of figure and ergonomics while still maintaining that classic N-frame feel. For shooters, the .45 Colt chambering delivers authoritative performance suitable for trail defense, hunting backup, or simply enjoying the big-bore revolver experience at the range.
Collectors will appreciate this revolver as part of the Mountain Gun series, which represents an important design shift for S&W in producing practical, purpose-built large-frame revolvers. Whether added to a Smith & Wesson collection, carried afield, or kept as a reliable .45 Colt shooter, this Mountain Gun is a fine representation of the model and a desirable revolver in its own right. So bid high and bid firm. I highly encourage you to look at the item’s condition in our high-quality photos. Good luck with your bid.
