Bore Condition: The bore is bright, the rifling is sharp. There is no visible erosion. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10/10.
Overall Condition: This revolver retains about 99% plus of its original finish. There is a faint but continuous turn-line that does not break the finish and only minor evidence of handling. Screw heads are sharp, and all markings are clear. This revolver appears to be factory test-fired only and remains in near-mint condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly in both single and double action. Lockup is solid and the timing is excellent. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included is the original factory box with matching serial number on the label, factory paperwork, and the original cleaning kit. This revolver shows all the signs of being factory test-fired only and then stored with great care.
Our Assessment: This Smith & Wesson Model 19-4 is an exceptional example of one of the finest combat revolvers ever made. Chambered in .357 Magnum with the ability to also fire .38 Special, the Model 19 was developed in collaboration with Bill Jordan and quickly earned its place as a mainstay for law enforcement and serious shooters alike. This 1979 example has seen only factory test-firing, retaining virtually all of its factory finish with no wear beyond a faint cylinder line. With a 10/10 bore and its original box, papers, and cleaning kit included, this revolver is about as close to mint as one can expect outside of the factory. Whether you’re a collector or shooter, it’s hard to improve on a Model 19-4 in this condition. So bid high and bid firm. I highly encourage you to take a look at the condition of the item in our high-quality photos. Good luck with your bid. -K.F.
