Our Assessment:
In 2001, Lew Horton Distributors and the Smith & Wesson Performance Center announced the “Heritage Series,” a special run of classic revolvers upgraded with Turnbull Restoration’s legendary color case-hardening. Among them was the Model 10-9—already one of the most iconic service revolvers ever built—reimagined with heirloom-quality finishing that transformed a duty gun into a collector’s prize.
This revolver, serial CRS0088, is a textbook example. The vivid Turnbull case colors play across the frame and crane, contrasting beautifully with the deep blue barrel and cylinder. It has a forged 4″ heavy barrel with a painted red ramp sight, square butt frame, and checkered walnut stocks. Its bore rates a clean 9.5/10, and the revolver shows only a faint turn line, suggesting minimal use.
For collectors of modern Smith & Wessons, the Heritage Series has already cemented its place as one of the most desirable limited runs of the early 2000s. Factory-documented examples have been showcased by Turnbull Restoration and command premium attention whenever they surface. Complete with its factory box and paperwork, this Model 10-9 represents not just a service revolver but a carefully curated piece of Smith & Wesson history, blending rugged design with old-world artistry. So bid high and bid firm. I highly encourage you to take a look at the condition of the item in our high-quality photos. Good luck with your bid. -K.F.
