Markings: The left of the top barrel is marked “MODEL 85TSS 20 GA 3″ CHAMBER PROOF TESTED / MADE BY NEW SKB ARMS COMPANY JAPAN”. The left side of the bottom barrel is marked “G.U. INC., OMAHA, NE.”. The left of the monoblock is marked “V / 203” and the right is marked “CC”. The bottom of the monoblock is marked “U”, “MS / 85T00C”, “NA06077”, and “NP”. The receiver, trigger guard, and release lever have scoll engraving. The bottom of the receiver is marked with the serial number and “SKB”. The trigger guard is also marked “TARGET”. The forend iron is marked with the serial number.

Choke: The barrels are threaded for chokes and installed with Full over Modified.
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a white bead in a base but it is bent and loose. There is a smaller metal alignment bead at the midsection.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are checkered wood with a pistol grip, finger groove forend, straight comb, and a black rubber buttpad. There are few scattered light handling marks. The checkering is sharp. The LOP measures 14 3/8” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. Drop at comb is about 1 3/8″, drop at heel is about 2″. The cast is about neutral. The pad has light handling wear. The stocks rate in about Excellent overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bores are bright. There is no erosion.
Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 97% of its metal finish. The front sight base is bent and loose. There are light handling marks on the receiver and a few marks on the tang that have caused smooth spots. There are a few little dings on the edges of the rib. There are a few light handling marks on the barrels. The screw heads are sharp. The pinheads are unmarred. The markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun rates in about Fine Plus condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly including ejectors. The lockup is tight. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This is certainly a beautiful looking shotgun and with the legendary SKB name, it probably shoots as good as it looks. It is an easy gun to shoulder and has great balance, it should prove to be a fine trap shotgun for those who want the challenge of a 20 gauge. Of course it will perform on game birds as well. It’s a head turner and features tasteful scroll engraving on its silver nitride receiver and has nicely blued 30″ barrels. The gun is in about Fine Plus condition with little wear and has a solid action, it just needs a new front sight. The gun locks up like a bank vault and is sure to bring a lifetime’s more shooting enjoyment. Please see our photos and good luck!
