Markings: The left side of the slide is marked “SIG / SAUER” and “SIGARMS INC. / Herndon – VA”, the right side is marked with the serial number and “P226 / MADE IN W. GERMANY”, the underside has two proof marks and “JK” date code. The right side of the barrel, visible through the ejection port is marked “9mm Para”. The left side of the chamber is marked “SIG SAUER / U 368 400”. The right side of the frame is marked with the serial number and an eagle over “N” proof.

Sights / Optics: The pistol has a Trijicon blade front sight with a tritium lamp in the rear face that is dovetailed to the slide. The rear sight is a square notch blade with two tritium lamps that is dovetailed to the slide.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are black plastic panels with checkering on the sides; the panels wrap around the back strap and provide more checkering for traction. The front strap is serrated. The grips show light use with just a few light handling marks on the smooth surfaces. The checkering is sharp. There are no chips or cracks present. The grips rate in about Fine-Excellent condition.

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. There is some faint fouling in the grooves.

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 98% of its metal finish. There are just a few faint marks on either side of the slide. Otherwise, only light handling marks are present. The serrations are sharp. There is light thinning on the controls. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are crisp. Overall, this handgun rates in about Fine-Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. This pistol features a decocker lever with the takedown lever and slide stop located on the left side. The double and single action pulls are smooth and crisp, with a rebounding hammer. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included are four 15-round magazines each showing hardly any wear, in about Excellent condition. Please note, no magazine will be included where prohibited by law.

Our Assessment: This is the legendary P226 from Sig Sauer finished in nickel, made in West Germany in the late eighties. The durability, accuracy and effectiveness of this platform has been tried, tested and proven for decades now. According to Sig Sauer’s website, the pistol can chew through 10,000 rounds in a single day with no issues; we offer anyone to step up to the plate and survive 10,000 rounds of 9mm in one day just to prove them wrong.
