Our Assessment:  The Sig Sauer P226 Stainless in 9mm Luger is a highly respected semi-automatic pistol, known for its reliability, durability, and precision. Developed by the renowned firearms manufacturer Sig Sauer, the P226 has been a staple in law enforcement and military units worldwide.

In the 1980s, U.S. Navy SEAL teams adopted the SIG P226 after German Kampfschwimmer had successfully tested the pistol. By 1989, the P226 entered official service with both the SEALs and DEVGRU under the designation Mk25 Mod 0.

The first public release of a Naval Special Warfare–themed P226 came in early 2004 with the NSW Commemorative models. These P226-9-NAVY pistols featured a stainless slide engraved with an anchor to mark them as SEAL-issue variants. Sales of the serialized NSW pistols generated $100,000 for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, with the very first, NSW0001, bringing in an additional $25,000 when auctioned live on the Laura Ingraham radio program. Later commercial runs kept the anchor marking and added a universal accessory rail. Be sure to click on the high resolution photos link for a better understanding of the firearm.- C.R.
