Markings: The left side of the slide is marked “SIG SAUER P238″. The right side of the frame is marked “SIG SAUER INC. / EXETER – NH – USA” and “27B052617”. The right side of the barrel at the ejector port is marked “380 AUTO”. The floorplate of one of the magazines is marked “SIG SAUER / .380 AUTO”, the other two are marked with a logo and “.380 AUTO”.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a steel blade dovetailed into the top of the slide with recessed tritium lamp. The rear sight is a square notch dovetailed into the slide with two recessed tritium lamps. The sights have dimmed considerably and are visible in pitch-black dark conditions.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The installed VZ grips are two piece smooth red wood panels. The grips have no notable wear or damage, only light handling marks. There are no chips or cracks. The installed grips are in about Excellent condition. Also included are grooved gray polymer panels. The polymer panels show some faint discoloration and light scratches from handling, in Very Good-Fine condition.
Type of Finish: The slide is stainless and the frame is black anodized aluminum.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. There is some stubborn fouling mid bore.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 99% of its metal finish. There is no notable damage, only light handling marks. The screw heads are undamaged and the markings are clear. Overall, this handgun rates in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. This pistol has a thumb-safety on the left side of the frame. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes with its original serial matching black hard case with a manual, cable lock, a Sig black polymer holster, and three stainless steel 6-round flush-fit magazines. All are in Excellent condition.
Our Assessment: The P238 is a micro-compact .380 ACP pistol with an alloy frame and steel slide and barrel. The size and operation is very similar to the Colt Mustang, itself influenced heavily by the 1911. The safety can be engaged with the hammer down or up, allowing for carry in safe condition 3 or cocked and locked. The single-action trigger is crisp, allowing for a better trigger pull than most comparably compact pistols and despite its size, the frame-mounted safety is easy to engage and disengage despite its positive detent. While some prefer 9mm to the .380 ACP, modern advances in ammunition design make the .380 a perfectly suitable cartridge for self defense and allow the frame to be slightly smaller, aiding concealment. This is a great pistol for carry that can be concealed even in warm-weather clothing. Please see our photos and good luck!
