Make: Sig Sauer

Model: M17 (XM17 / U.S. Army MHS Variant)

Serial Number: TF001370

Year of Manufacture: 2017 (Army acceptance), commercial disposition, 2019

Caliber: 9mm Luger (9×19mm)

Action Type: Striker-fired, modular fire control unit (serialized FCU)

Markings: The frame is molded with “NEWINGTON, NH, USA,” with serialized FCU number TF001370 visible through the grip module. The slide and barrel are marked “9mm x 19” with contract and inspection codes. Box label marked “UDM17-9-SURPLUS.” Department of the Army FOIA paperwork confirms service issue to the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Hood, Texas.

Barrel Length: 4.7″

Sights / Optics: SigLite night sights (rear sight marked HZ H3 17).

Finish / Exterior: Factory coyote tan (FDE) finish with light wear to high edges, takedown lever, and frame rails consistent with issued service pistols. Overall finish retention remains strong with only scattered surface marks.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright, the rifling is sharp. There is no visible erosion in the bore but there is stubborn fouling throughout. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10/10.

Mechanics: The serialized FCU functions correctly with positive reset and reliable slide-lock operation. Includes original recoil spring assembly, two 21-round magazines, one 17-round magazine, cable lock, and FOIA provenance documents. We did not fire this pistol. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Accessories: Factory cardboard box with matching serial, foam insert, (2) 21-round magazines, (1) 17-round steel magazine, spare recoil spring, cable lock, operator’s manual, and Department of the Army FOIA documentation.

Provenance / History: Per official FOIA records, this pistol was issued to F Company, 2nd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Hood, Texas. After active service use, it was returned to the Logistics Readiness Center and subsequently transferred back to Sig Sauer via DLA Anniston.

Our Assessment: This documented U.S. Army M17 served with the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment — one of the Army’s storied mounted units. The included FOIA provenance provides direct confirmation of its service lineage. Surplus examples with specific unit documentation are increasingly scarce and highly valued by collectors of modern U.S. military arms. This example remains mechanically excellent and complete with its matching serialized packaging and full accessory suite. We are no longer offering layaway. KF
