Sig Sauer M17 Pistol 4.7″ Army Surplus w/ FOIA Provenance Letter 2017
SOLD FOR: $1,150.00
LSB#: LSB250731KE003
Make: Sig Sauer
Model: M17 (XM17 / U.S. Army MHS Variant)
Serial Number: TF003912
Year of Manufacture: 2017 (Army acceptance), commercial disposition 2019
Caliber: 9mm Luger (9×19mm)
Action Type: Striker-fired, modular fire control unit (serialized FCU)
Markings: The frame is molded with “NEWINGTON, NH, USA,” and the serialized FCU number TF003912 is visible in the frame recess. The slide and barrel bear “9mm x 19” and corresponding contract markings. Exterior box is labeled “UDM17-9-SURPLUS” with matching serial. Department of the Army FOIA documentation confirms assignment to a 3rd Infantry Battalion before return to DLA and Sig Sauer for surplus sale.
Barrel Length: 4.7″
Sights / Optics: SigLite night sights (rear sight marked HZ H3 17).
Finish / Exterior: Factory coyote PVD over stainless and polymer frame. Light wear and scuffs appear along the slide flats and controls, consistent with moderate issued service use. Overall presentation remains strong with crisp markings and intact factory finish.
Bore Condition: The bore is bright, the rifling is sharp. There is no visible erosion in the bore but there is stubborn fouling throughout. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10/10.
Mechanics: The modular FCU assembly operates smoothly with correct slide function, takedown, and trigger pull typical of the P320/M17 platform. Includes original recoil spring, (2) 21-round magazines, (1) 17-round steel magazine, cable lock, and operator’s manual. We did not fire this pistol. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Accessories: Original surplus box with foam insert and matching serial label, (2) 21-rd magazines, (1) 17-rd steel magazine, spare recoil spring assembly, cable lock, manual, and FOIA documentation verifying issue and return history.
Provenance / History: This pistol’s FOIA record confirms Army issue to a 3rd Infantry Battalion during its active service period, followed by return to DLA and Sig Sauer for commercial disposition.
Our Assessment: This verified surplus M17 offers direct service provenance to a 3rd Infantry Battalion — a rare level of documentation among commercially released M17s. The pistol remains in solid condition with matching serialized packaging, correct military markings, and full accessory complement. Documented U.S. service examples like this are now highly collectible as tangible artifacts of the XM17 adoption program. We are no longer offering layaway. KF
