More Sold Fine Modern Arms

SOLD FOR: $1,125.00

LSB#: LSB250731KE001

Make: Sig Sauer

Model: M17 (XM17 / U.S. Army MHS Variant)

Serial Number: TF001962

Year of Manufacture: 2017 (Army acceptance), commercial disposition Dec. 23, 2019

Caliber: 9mm Luger (9×19mm)

Action Type: Striker-fired, modular fire control unit (serialized FCU)

Markings: The frame is molded with “NEWINGTON, NH, USA” adjacent to the FCU cutout and the serialized FCU number TF001962 is visible in the frame recess. The ejection port/slide shows “9mm x 19” and stamped barrel/contract code “6ZWB1 13067009.” The factory box and exterior label are marked “UDM17-9-SURPLUS” with matching SN: TF001962. Included FOIA paperwork from the Department of the Army documents prior military service and transfer back to Sig Sauer for commercial disposition.

Barrel Length: 4.7″

Sights / Optics: SigLite night sights (rear sight marked HZ H3 17).

Finish / Exterior: Factory coyote tan (FDE/Coyote) PVD/cerakote-style finish on frame and slide controls with nitron/blued steel slide faces. Visible handling marks and light scuffs on the slide and slide top; small finish nicks/scratches around the ejection port and slide serrations consistent with issuance and service use. Magwell and controls show minor edge wear; overall finish retention remains good for a service-returned example but is not flawless.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright, the rifling is sharp. There is no visible erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10/10.

Mechanics: The modular fire control unit (FCU) is serialized TF001962 and the pistol functions as a standard striker-fired P320/M17 platform. Controls operate smoothly in-hand; slide locks, takedown, and magazine release function normally as presented. Includes factory recoil spring assembly (spare), cable lock, two 21-round magazines and one 17-round steel magazine, operator’s manual, and Department of the Army FOIA provenance letter. We did not fire this pistol. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Accessories: Original surplus/retail box with foam insert and serialized label, (2) 21-rd magazines, (1) 17-rd steel magazine, spare recoil spring assembly in factory bag, cable lock, operator’s manual, and FOIA documentation from the Army confirming issue history and return to manufacturer.

Provenance / History: Per enclosed FOIA documentation, this serial (TF001962) was manufactured by Sig Sauer and accepted into Army service in 2017, saw issue (documented as issued to F Company, 2nd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Hood, TX), later returned to logistics and subsequently transferred back to Sig Sauer/DLA for disposition prior to commercial release. The paperwork included with the pistol verifies that lineage and greatly enhances the lot’s collectability and interest to both militaria collectors and shooters seeking a documented M17 surplus example.

Our Assessment: This is an authentic U.S. Army XM17/M17 example with direct paperwork tying it to service use and final disposition — an appealing combination for collectors of modern military small arms and those who prize documented service provenance. The pistol retains its original serialized modular FCU, factory coyote finish, SigLite sights, and the correct complement of surplus magazines and factory accessories; visible handling marks are consistent with issued service pistols and do not detract from the overall desirability of a documented military M17.

This lot is a complete, documented surplus M17 offered with factory accessories and the FOIA provenance letter — a notably uncommon combination that will interest both militaria collectors and enthusiasts of the modern MHS lineage. We are no longer offering layaway. KF
