Our Assessment: The SIG P49—commercially known as the P210—is one of the finest service pistols ever manufactured. Originally adopted by the Swiss Army in 1949, it set the gold standard for accuracy, reliability, and mechanical refinement. The pistol was hand-fitted with a tight slide-to-frame fit achieved by riding the slide inside the frame rails, a feature that maximizes lock-up precision and contributes to its renowned accuracy.
This example is chambered in 7.65mm Parabellum, a historically correct and relatively uncommon caliber for the platform. With its Swiss military markings and serialized components, this pistol exemplifies the elite quality of mid-century Swiss arms production. The 4.75″ barrel and fixed barrel design enhance its legendary accuracy, making it not only a military heirloom but also a capable shooter in the hands of a discerning collector.
Whether you’re a fan of Swiss craftsmanship, a collector of Cold War era arms, or simply someone who appreciates the mechanical poetry of an overbuilt pistol, this P49 represents a crown jewel. It’s a beautiful piece in excellent condition and includes both its original magazine and a period-correct holster. Please see our high quality photos and good luck on your bid!–M.C.
