Our Assessment: “The Earliest Winchester .22 single shot bolt action Model 60A 22 short, long, or long rifle was the model 60A Sporter, the earliest it had a 23″ barrel and No finger grooves on the stock, it was only made in 1932/33. The 60A was available in a Sporter or Target version.  Winchester made the model 60 and sold about 165,000 of them. The 60A from 1932 to 1939 and they sold/made only 6,118.

After 1933, all 60A’s were made with a 27″ barrel. The target version had a 27″ barrel, aperture site, and most have finger grooved stock. Combined together There was Only 6,118 Winchester Model 60A’s Made/produced, that’s Both model 60A’s sporter/target version combined together. Given that there was only 6,118 made makes them collectible, rare Winchester Bolt action rimfire Rifles.”

This is perhaps the nicest one we have ever seen, deserving a place in a discerning Winchester collection.
