Markings: The left of the slide is marked “COLT MK IV/SERIES ’80 / -MUSTANG-380 AUTO-” and with a rampant colt. The serial number is on the left side of the frame and reads “RS23394.” The right side of the frame bears “COLT’S PT. FA. MFG. CO. / HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A.”. The right of the barrel at the chamber is marked “CAL 380 / SM&A”. The right side of the slide is marked “PLUS II”.
Barrel Length: 2 3/4”
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade with a recessed white dot and is dovetailed to the front of the slide. The rear sight is a square notch lo-mount style sight with two recessed white dots and is dovetailed and screw-set to the rear of the slide.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece checkered black plastic with silver Colt medallions. The smooth borders have a few very light marks and the checkering is strong. Overall, the grips are in about Fine-Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 97% of its metal finish as customized. There are a few light rubs and handlign marks. The pistol has been completely dehorned. There is light operational wear. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear but some are light. Overall, this pistol is in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The slide has minor play to the frame. The trigger is light and crisp. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes with a pair of 7-round magazines. One is stainless the other is blued. Both have some light wear, in about Fine-Excellent condition.
Our Assessment: This is one of those great guns that make you wonder why they are no longer in production. Few automatics offered what this one does: Convenient Size, Potent Chambering, Comfortable Ergonomics, Single Action trigger, a Slide Lock and Colt Reliability. There are some manufacturers today who make similar guns, but you just can’t beat the original. This one has been customized by Scott, McDougall & Associates and has had the metal completely dehorned for carry, a metal guide rod installed, dovetail three dot sights installed, the magazine well beveled, and an action job performed. Whether you’re looking for a carry piece or an interesting addition to a Colt collection, this is a nice pony to add to the stable. Please see our photos and good luck!
