Action Type: Lever Action with Rotary Magazine. This rifle is a solid frame model.

Markings: The top of the barrel is marked “SAVAGE ARMS CORPORATION / UTICA. N.Y.-MADE IN U.S.A”. The left of the barrel is marked “.300 SAVAGE” and “SP” in oval. The right side of the barrel is marked “‘HI-PRESSURE STEEL-PROOF TESTED”. The top of the frame is marked “SAVAGE MODEL 99”. The bottom of the frame is marked with the serial number and “Z”. The rear sight is marked “LYMAN”.

Barrel Length: 24”

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a Lyman beaded blade dovetailed to a serrated, ramped base fixed to the front of the barrel. The rear sight is a Lyman 57SA target style sight threaded into the receiver. The rear sight is adjustable for windage and elevation.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece smooth smooth wood with schnabel forend, and capped pistol grip. The stocks show light handling and storage marks with a few compression marks present. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 13” from the front of the trigger to the back of the hard metal buttplate. The buttplate shows finish loss with surface erosion. The stocks rate in about Very Good condition.

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 90% of its metal finish. The receiver has some light draglines and a few oil marks. There are a few little spots of oxidation on the left and right sides of the receiver. The receiver has some very faint mottled discoloration, most noticeable on the tangs and bottom. The barrel has some little scuffs that have thinned the finish, some draglines, faint mottled discoloration, and some spots of oxidation. The lever has some thinning and some spots of scattered discoloration. The bolt has some spots of dark discoloration from previous oxidation and standard operational wear. The screw heads range from sharp to very lightly tool marked with strong slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in about Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. It has a sliding safety on

the top tang that locks the lever and the trigger. The lever locks up tightly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
