Markings: The right side of the barrel is marked “CAL. 25-06 Rem.”, “MADE IN FINLAND”, and a Finnish proof mark. The left side of the barrel is marked with a factory warning over “IMPORTER – BERETTA U.S.A., Corp., ACKK., MD 20607”. The left side of the receiver is marked “SAKO 85 M”, the serial number “N23852”, and two Finnish proof marks. The bottom of the bolt is marked “852” and has a Finnish proof mark.

Sights/Optics: The front sight is an elevation adjustable patridge blade slotted and pinned in a ramped riser that is screwed to the barrel. The rear sight is a windage adjustable square notch leaf dovetailed to a riser that is fixed to the barrel. The receiver is grooved for mounting an optic (not included).
Stock Configuration and Condition: The stock is a one-piece checkered wood with a rosewood capped schnabel tipped forend, rosewood capped pistol grip, fluted slightly convex comb with cheek-piece on the right for left-handed shooters, and black rubber buttpad. There is a tiny compression on the left side just behind the rear thru-bolt. There are no chips or cracks. The checkering is sharp. The LOP is 14 1/2” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. The buttpad is free of any notable wear or damage. Overall, the stock rates in Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. There is some faint thinning at the rear of the bolt, but otherwise this rifle is free of any notable wear or damage. The screws have minor tool marks with strong slots, and all markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork and Accessories: Included with this rifle is a serial matching box with a 5-round magazine, bolt disassembly tool and a safety lock.
Our Assessment: Sako 85 is a bolt-action rifle produced by the Finnish manufacturer Sako since 2006, and the name signifies that Sako celebrated 85 years that year. The model 85 is marketed as one of Sako’s premium models for hunting, and is delivered in many different configurations and chamberings. According to Sako the rifle is available in over 1000 different configurations. This example is a model 85 M constructed for left handed shooters. It was a beautiful checkered stock with rosewood caps and a convex comb with a cheek piece. The .22-250 Remington is a very high-velocity (capable of reaching over 4000 feet per second), short action, .22 caliber rifle cartridge primarily used for varmint hunting and small game hunting. This rifle is in Excellent condition and would make a great hunting rifle for any lucky lefty. Please see our photos and good luck!
