Markings: The left side of the trunnion is marked “16 V HB 3988”. The left side of the sight block is marked “FIME GROUP / LAS VEGAS NV USA”. The right side of the sight block is marked “VEPR-PIONEER / .223Rem / MOLOT-ORUZHIE LTD / VYATSKIE POLYANY RUSSIA”.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is an adjustable post sight between two protective ears. The rear sight is a flip up “U” notched leaf screwed into the sight block. The left side of the receiver has a sight rail.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The buttstock is a one piece checkered wood with a semi pistol grip, comb with cheekpiece, checkered forend, and a vented rubber buttpad. There is little to no wear throughout. There are a few light scratches. The LOP measures 13.75” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. The stock rates in about Excellent overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no visible erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates in 9 out of 10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows little to no wear. There are light scratches on the barrel and dust cover. There is light operational wear. The screw heads are sharp and the rivets are unmarred. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: The Molot VEPR Pioneer in .223 Remington is one of the final-generation Russian sporting Kalashnikov variants imported into the United States prior to the end of Russian commercial export availability. Manufactured in 2016 at Molot-Oruzhie in Vyatskie Polyany and imported by FIME Group, the Pioneer configuration was purpose-built as a hunting rifle rather than a military-style carbine. Built on the heavier RPK-pattern receiver with reinforced trunnion construction, the VEPR platform is widely regarded for its durability and rigidity, while the extended 22.75 inch barrel and traditional wood stock give this model a distinctly sporting profile.
This example presents in excellent overall condition, retaining nearly all of its original black finish with only light surface marks and minor operational wear visible. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and no visible erosion, reflecting limited use. The checkered wood stock remains clean and well fitted with minimal cosmetic wear, and the included magazines enhance its completeness and utility. Overall, this 2016 VEPR Pioneer stands as a well-preserved example from the final era of Russian-made VEPR imports, combining RPK-based strength with classic sporting aesthetics in a highly desirable .223 Remington configuration.
