Our Assessment: The Molot VEPR-12 is a Russian-built, RPK-based semi-automatic shotgun that represents one of the most robust magazine-fed 12 gauge platforms imported into the United States. Manufactured at Molot-Oruzhie in Vyatskie Polyany, the VEPR-12 utilizes the reinforced RPK-pattern receiver and heavy trunnion architecture, setting it apart from lighter AK-derived shotgun designs. Chambered for 12×76 3 inch shells and fitted with a 19 inch barrel, this configuration reflects the late-era export pattern that blended Russian military engineering with modern commercial features, including a welded folding stock and dual-leaf rear sight.

This example presents in fine overall condition, retaining nearly all of its original black finish with light operational wear concentrated around the receiver and dust cover. The bore is bright with no visible erosion, showing moderate fouling consistent with use rather than neglect. The synthetic folding stock assembly remains solid with only minor cosmetic wear, and the rifle retains correct Molot markings throughout. Overall, this VEPR-12 stands as a durable and desirable example of a Russian RPK-based shotgun from the later import era, combining heavy-duty construction with the unmistakable Kalashnikov operating system.
