Markings: The right side of the frame is marked with the serial number and Ruger logo underneath the cylinder and “Ruger” above the caliber designation ahead of the cylinder. The right side of the barrel is marked “SUPER REDHAWK”. The left side of the barrel is marked with a safety disclaimer adjacent to a Ruger logo. The right side of the frame is marked “RUGER”. The cylinder is marked with the calibers.

Sights/ Optics: The front sight is a serrated blade with a reddish orange fixture dovetailed to a ramp which is fixed to the barrel. The rear sight is an adjustable screw-set square-notch with a white colored outline. Also, the top-strap has provisions for mounting a scope. There is a scope included with the revolver but it is ot currently installed (it is described below in the Box, Paperwork and Accessories section)
Stock Configuration & Condition/ Grip: The grips are two-piece wood with rubber borders featuring a thumb rest on the left side. The grips have some light handling marks, nicks and scuffs. Notably, there are some light handling marks on the wood panels surrounding the screw slots and the rubber is slightly discolored from routine handling wear. There are no rips, tears, chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright with sharp rifling. There is some light erosion concentrated around the rear end of the bore.
Overall Condition: The revolver retains about 90% of its metal finish. The front of the cylinder’s finish has largely worn off and has a black discoloration. Also, there are a few light handling marks (including a light turn-line on the cylinder), nicks and scuffs. The markings remain clear. The screwheads are only lightly tooled and remain serviceable. Overall, the revolver remains in Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The cylinder locks with barely palpable play on each chamber. The single-action trigger is crisp and the double-action is smooth. The revolver has a transfer bar safety. We have not fired this revolver. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box Paperwork and Accessories: The gun comes with its grey colored serial matched Ruger box, a user manual, a black colored Uncle Mike’s size 4 holster and a HKS Speedloader. Also, the revolver comes with a Hammers brand 2-7×32 scope mounted onto two Ruger rings with a target grey finish (the scope is not currently mounted on the revolver). The scope has a sharp duplex reticle and clear glass. The scope has some light handling marks but it remains in Very Good condition.
Our Assessment: The Super Redhawk was introduced in 1987 and remains one of the most popular large caliber revolvers on the market. In 1997 the company introduced a variant of the Super Redhawk that was chambered for .454 Casull which was the first 6-shot revolver chambered for that caliber. The cylinder used a different alloy and heat treatment process to increase its strength in order to withstand the extreme pressure of the .454 cartridge. These revolvers were originally given target grey finishes and were also chambered for the more common .45 Colt round. This is one of the early .454 Casull caliber Super Redhawks, and it retains all its original features. The revolver remains aesthetically pleasing and mechanically sound. This is one revolver that Ruger enthusiasts will not want to miss out on!
