Sights / Optics: The front sight is a flip-up ruger iron sight adjustable for windage and elevation. The rear sight is a Ruger flip-up dual aperture adjustable for windage. There is a Barska 1.5-6 power illuminated scope mounted to the top of the receiver. The scope reticle lights up as intended. The glass is clear and the optic rates in Good condition.
Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: There is currently a bullet button magazine release installed which functionally makes this a fixed magazine rifle according to certain states where you aren’t allowed to have fun. The grip is a Magpul pistol grip. The stock is a collapsible Magpul stock. The forend is Ruger’s specially designed quad rail that allows the barrel and gas system to quickly be attached and removed. There is light operational and handling wear present. All of the furniture is in Fine+ to Excellent condition.

Finish Originality: Original
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp with a few small spots of oxidation towards the muzzle. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 9 out of 10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its original metal finish. The balance of finish shows light wear from handling and operation. The pins are clean and unmarred. Overall, this rifle rates in about Fine condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. There is currently a bullet button magazine release installed, however the original magazine release is included. The safety also functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. We have cleaned this firearm and performed a mechanic’s check but expect many will want to clean the firearm again depending on their standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Scope, soft Ruger case, three pinned 10 round PMAGS, gun lock, cleaning rag, paperwork, and the original standard magazine release.
Our Assessment: A piston-driven, short-stroke gas system variant of the AR-style platform offered by Sturm, Ruger & Co., the SR-556 Takedown pairs AR ergonomics and controls with a gas-piston operating system intended to reduce carbon in the receiver and improve reliability on adverse or suppressed use. The takedown feature allows the barrel to separate from the upper for compact transport and storage. The fitted Barska illuminated optic provides a rapid aiming reference in low-light, while the pinned 10-round magazines and bullet-button-style release reflect a configuration modified to meet the laws in unpatriotic states.
