The bore of the Blackhawk is equally bright with sharp rifling and faint signs of use. In this writer’s opinion, it rates 9.5/10.
Overall Condition:
Both revolvers retain the majority of their factory blue finish, approximately 93–94% combined. The finish shows light handling marks, minor edge wear at the muzzle and cylinder high points, and faint surface scuffs consistent with careful use and long-term display. The screw heads are serviceable and not boogered. The markings remain crisp and legible.
Mechanics:
The actions of both revolvers function correctly with smooth trigger pulls, tight cylinder lockup, and positive hammer engagement. We did not fire these revolvers. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Accessories:
The revolvers are housed together in a custom wooden presentation case lined with red velvet. The case shows scattered exterior marks and wear, but remains sturdy and fully functional.
Our Assessment:
This is a handsome cased set of early Ruger revolvers — a Single-Six chambered in .22 Long Rifle and a Blackhawk in .44 Magnum — both bearing matching Ruger Southport markings and classic early-production serial ranges. The pairing highlights Ruger’s postwar mastery of the single-action form, offering both the precision and utility of the rimfire revolver and the raw magnum power of the large-frame Blackhawk.
The Single-Six, introduced in 1953, became Ruger’s first commercial revolver and redefined the .22 single-action market for decades. The Blackhawk, launched in 1955, was designed to handle the formidable .44 Magnum, bridging the gap between Colt’s frontier heritage and modern magnum performance. The two together illustrate the evolution of Ruger craftsmanship during the golden age of American revolver production.
This cased pair presents beautifully, with complementary grips and well-kept blued finishes, perfect for display or collection. They stand as quintessential examples of Bill Ruger’s early revolver legacy and remain highly regarded by shooters and collectors alike. So bid high and bid firm. I encourage you to look at the item’s condition in our high-quality photos. Good luck with your bid. -K.F.
