Sights / Optics: The front sight is a pinned serrated ramped blade pinned to a barrel mounted base, the rear sight is an adjustable square notch pinned into the top strap.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two piece checkered walnut panels with silver Ruger medallions. There are no notable handling marks. There are no cracks, but a section of checkering on the right panel has chipped off, otherwise the checkering is sharp. Overall the grips rate Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 10/10.
Overall Condition: This revolver retains about 99% There are faint handling marks throughout. There is a faint turn line in the cylinder. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this handgun rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions as intended. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: The Ruger Security-Six was introduced in the 1970s as Ruger’s first modern double-action revolver, designed to be stronger and more affordable than comparable Colt or Smith & Wesson offerings. Built on a medium-sized frame, it became a popular duty gun for police and security agencies, while also earning favor among civilian shooters for its ruggedness and versatility. Chambered in .357 Magnum, it could also fire .38 Special, making it adaptable for both defensive and recreational use. This particular example, made in 1983, is the snub-nose 2 3/4-inch barrel variant—a compact yet powerful configuration well-suited for concealed carry or as a backup revolver. The stainless steel finish further enhances durability and corrosion resistance, making it a practical working gun in all environments. This revolver remains in excellent condition, retaining about 99% of its original stainless finish with only faint handling marks and a light cylinder turn line. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and no erosion, rating a perfect 10/10 in this writer’s opinion. The walnut grips with silver Ruger medallions are solid, with sharp checkering except for one chipped section on the right panel, but otherwise well-preserved. The mechanics are smooth and function correctly, reflecting the strong lock-up and durability that made the Security-Six a trusted service revolver. The revolver comes with its original cardboard box and paperwork, adding to its collectibility.
For Ruger enthusiasts and revolver collectors, this 1983 Security-Six is an especially desirable example. Its short 2 3/4-inch barrel and stainless steel finish make it a versatile revolver for both carry and range use, while its excellent overall condition and inclusion of the original box give it added value as a collectible.
