Mechanics: The action functions correctly. No transfer bar safety system has been installed and the action presents four ‘clicks’, similar to the action of a Colt Single Action Army. Mild play is evident in the cylinder lockup. We did not fire this handgun. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: None

Our Assessment: The tough and powerful .44 Magnum Ruger Blackhawk revolvers were only made for 6 years, beginning in 1956. A little larger than Colt Single Action Army Revolvers, they absorb recoil a little better while maintaining an authentic “Old West” look and feel. Blackhawks are over engineered and can handling the hottest loads. This one is in Excellent condition, retaining about 99% of its original finish and exhibiting scattered small marks. The staghorn grips are in Excellent condition and look great. The right panel’s black on silver Ruger medallion is rotated 90 degrees clock wise, but you can make up your own story about why that is. This is a great cowboy gun with modern, adjustable sights.
