Screw heads remain sharp, and the rifle shows strong original metal polish with only minimal thinning near contact points.

Our Assessment:
Introduced in 1967, the Ruger No. 1 reimagined the classic Farquharson falling-block rifle with modern precision and American styling. The “B” designation, or Standard model, represents the most balanced of the series—featuring a 26″ medium-weight barrel, quarter-rib, and a beavertail fore-end optimized for steady field shooting and scope use.

This example, dating from 1988–1989, is chambered in the powerful .300 Weatherby Magnum—a cartridge known for its flat trajectory and long-range energy, designed by Roy Weatherby in 1944 to push .30 caliber performance to new heights. The combination of Weatherby’s magnum ballistics and Ruger’s robust, compact single-shot design results in a rifle capable of extraordinary precision and range with minimal bulk.

Retaining over 92% of its original blued finish and a near-pristine bore, this No. 1B remains a striking example of late-1980s Ruger craftsmanship. It stands as both a refined sporting rifle and a tribute to the timeless elegance of the single-shot form.
