Markings: The top of the barrel is marked with Ruger’s 2-Line warning and Southport address. The left side of the barrel is marked with “7mm-08 REM”. The top of the receiver is marked “RUGER / NO. 1”. The bottom left of the receiver is marked with the serial number.

Sights / Optics: There are no provisions for iron sights. The top of the barrel is mounted with a quarter rib, and is set up for Ruger-style rings.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are a two-piece laminate wood with a capped semi-pistol grip, fluted straight comb, black rubber buttpad, and sling studs front and rear. The LOP measures 13 5/8″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. The stocks show signs of light swelling around the top & bottom tangs, and around the back of the forend where it mates up with the receiver. The stocks show no signs of handling wear. The stocks fit the frame tightly, with no play. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the stocks rate in Fair condition, due to the minor swelling from humidity.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore, but there are a few small spots of corrosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 8/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 97% of its original metal finish. The balance of the finish shows light, patchy surface corrosion throughout the barrel and receiver. There is light operational wear on the falling block. There is light pitting under the forend on the bottom of the barrel. The markings are clear and legible. The screw heads are sharp, but also corroded. Overall, this rifle rates in Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly, as does the tang safety, though the tang safety is a bit stiff from corrosion in the action. We did not fire this rifle, but we did perform a mechanic’s check. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with its original serial number matching box, owner’s manual/paperwork, gun lock, and scope rings.
Our Assessment: The Ruger No. 1 is Ruger’s modern homage to classic falling-block single-shots — a one-piece, rigid action celebrated for its simplicity, exceptional receiver-to-barrel fit, and inherent accuracy. Ruger built the No. 1 to showcase a clean sighting plane and precise lockup, and this stainless, laminate-stock example follows that template with a 26? barrel, quarter rib and Ruger-style ring provision. The barreled action presents neatly, the stainless finish remains largely intact, and the included factory paperwork and accessories make this a straightforward, ready-to-complete build for a gunsmith or stock installer.
Chambered in 7mm-08 Remington — a short-action cartridge developed from the .308 Winchester and standardized commercially by Remington in 1980 for efficient, flat-shooting performance with moderate recoil — this rifle offers a versatile, modern chambering on a premium single-shot platform. Cosmetically the metal retains approximately 97% of its original finish with light, patchy surface corrosion and a few small areas of pitting under the forend; the bore checks bright with sharp rifling and rates 8/10. The laminate stocks show minor swelling around the tangs and forend joints and are therefore rated Fair, though they fit tightly with no cracks. Presented as a largely original rifle, with box, manual, lock and scope rings, this Ruger No. 1 is a solid foundation for a restoration project, and would make a wonderful addition to an already existing Ruger No. 1 collection.
