Markings: The stop of the barrel is marked “STURM, RUGER & CO. INC., SOUTHPORT, CONN U.S.A.”. The left side of the barrel is marked “220 SWIFT” and a Ruger proof mark. The left side of the receiver is marked with the serial number, “73-27821”, and “RUGER M77®”. The bolt is serial matching, and hand-scribed “27821”. The rubber buttpad and grip cap are marked with a Ruger logo.

Sights/Optics: There is no provision for a front sight on this rifle. The barrel is drilled, tapped, and filled. The receiver rib is cut for Ruger rings that have attached a Tasco 6-24x scope with a duplex reticle. The scope has scattered light nicks, mostly along the top, the glass is fairly clear , and overall the scope rates in Very Good-to-Fine condition.
Stock Configuration and Condition: The stock is a one-piece wood with pistol grip, fluted straight comb, and orange rubber Ruger buttpad. There are QD sling swivels on the belly of the buttstock and forend. There are scattered light compressions and minor dings, most notable on the left side of stock. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP is 13 3/4” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. The buttpad shows minor wear with a few spots of light discoloration. Overall, the stock rates in Very Good-to-Fine condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 95% of its metal finish. There are intermittent minor nicks and scuffs along the length of the barrel. The receiver has taken on a light plum hue. The action has light operational wear. The screws show light tool marks and strong slots, and all markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in Fine condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: The Ruger M77 is a robust Bolt-Action rifle designed in 1968 by L. James Sullivan during his short three-years of work with Ruger. Intended to be a modernized Mauser 98, and featured simplified ejector updates and a newly designed safety system. This rifle dates back to 1978, several years before the first major M77 re-tooling in 1991, and retains that classic Ruger look.
